RE: Report of Cayuga Heights Fire Department for the month of May 1979
There were 8 general alarms and 8 incident calls in May 1979.
On May 8th, at 7:20 p.m., a grass and brush fire at 120 Sunset Dr. called out the
Department. Twenty -two men and 2 trucks responded.
On May 11th, at 9:44 p.m., there was an accidental alarm at Pyramid Mall.
Twenty -one men and 3 trucks answered the alarm.
On May 15th, at 10:58 a.m., a malfunction in the alarm system at Pyramid Mall called
out the Department. Sixteen men and 3 trucks responded.
On May 21st, at 9:52 a.m., there was an alarm at Pyramid Mall. An alarm malfunction
was responsible. Thirteen men and 3 trucks responded.
On May 23rd, at 10:40 a.m., the Department was called to BOCES, Bldg. D where a
school class was welding in the building and the smoke accidentally set off the
smoke deterctor. Fifteen men and 2 trucks responded.
A car fire in the Village Green parking lot called out the Department on May 25th
at 6:09 p.m. Seventeen men and 1 truck responded.
On May 31st, at 3:05 p.m., the Department was called to 401 Salem Dr. for a lawn
mower fire. Fifteen men and two trucks responded.
There were 8 incident calls in May as follows: flooding - 1; first aid calls - 7.
The Fire Council is presently interviewing representatives of different fire
trucks and will soon be preparing a bid for a new fire engine to be delivered in
1980 to replace old Eagine No. 202 which will be 20 years old and in need of
replacement.
