RE: Report of the Cayuga heights Fire Department for the month of April 1979
There were 14 general alarms and 8 incident calls in April.
On April 4th, at 8:29 a.m., the Department was called to Triphammer Mall because
of an alarm malfunction caused by dust. Sixteen men and 3 trucks responded.
On April 5th, at 1:20 p.m., a burned -out motor was responsible for an alarm at the
Church of Latter Day Saints on Burleigh Dr. Fourteen men and 3 trucks responded.
A house fire at 305 Salem Dr. called out the Department on April 6th, at 12:54 p.m.
A cigarette thrown in a waste basket set fire to the basket, wall, and floor. The
fire was extinguished with a small amount of damage. Seventeen men and 5 trucks
responded.
On April 6th, at 1:15 P.m. and 1:20 p.m., the Department was called to 305 The
Parkway and 114 The Parkway because of a storm which broke down trees and electric
lines which were burning and blocking the street. Sixteen men and 3 trucks
responded.
A car fire at 1007 Triphammer Road called out the Department on April 9th at
11:36 p.m. Seventeen men and two trucks responded.
On April 10th, at 8:30 a.m., an alarm malfunction at BOCES called out the Depart-
ment. Dust in the ventilating system caused the alarm. Nineteen men and 3
trucks responded.
A car fire at the corner of Hanshaw Road and The Parkway called out the Department
on April 13th, at 6 :46 p.m. Twenty -five men and 2 trucks responded.
On April 17th, at 8:02 p.m., an alarm malfunction at 607 Hanshaw Road was respon-
sible for an alarm. Twenty -three men and 4 trucks responded.
On April 18th, at 11:13 a.m., the Department responded to 416 Hanshaw Road.for a
stove fire. Seventeen men and 4 trucks were at the scene.
An alarm malfunction was responsible for an alarm at Pyramid Mall on April 22nd
at 4:53 p.m. Twenty men and 4 trucks responded.
On April 24th, at 1:14 p.m., the Department was called to Burleigh Drive for a
grass fire. Eleven men and 3 trucks responded.
A car fire at 1007 Triphammer Road called out the Department on April 29th at
11:24 p.m. Twenty men and 2 trucks were at the scene.
On April 30th, at 11:21 a.m.. the Department was called on mutual aid to Trip-
hammer Mall where a aiacarded cigarette thrown in a large flower planter started
a fire in the peat moss mulch. Twenty men and 3 trucks were at the scene.
There were 8 incident calls in April as follows: electric pole fire - 1; trees
down - 1; medical emergency - 5; electrical problem - 1.
