HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Engineer April 1979REPORT OF ENGINEER - April 1979 SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT A leak in the outfall pipe was again detected in the same location where a leak occurred a few months ago. A diver was hired and found that nuts on the repair sleeve had loosened allowing water to escape through the rupture in the pipe. The nuts and bolts have been tightened thereby correcting the leak, but obviously a more permanent solution must be found. Teetor - Dobbins partner, Mr. Fred Davis, has been notified of this new leak; and the temporary correction has been made. fie was also requested to notify the Village when we might expect to hear from Teetor - Dobbins with answers to the ques- tions about the outfall pipe as requested by the Trustee. The use of alum as a polymer in tests for tertiary plant has lowered the Ph of our effluent, but 'it is estimated that the cost per day of using alum rather than lime would be upward of $25 or $30. Our operator, Gary Gleason, is expecting a letter from DEC about the Ph of our effluent. When this letter is received, and with further information on further tests now being run, a letter petitioning the State to re- investigate the need for our meeting the State's requirements for Ph will be written. DRAINAGE With frost out of the ground, work on the railroad tie sluice on Mr. King's proper- ty on Warwick Drive has been scheduled. The price quotation for installation of the ties with the Village doing the excavation and grading has been requested from contractors. REPORT OF ZONING OFFICER - April 1979 Since the last report there were three zoning permits issued for the construction of new houses for an estimated cost of $142,000. Mr. Lagrand Chase has requested a sign permit for the sign on the property where he is constructing the house on Cambridge Place. He mentions that a sketch of the sign with its location will be available at the Board meeting. The intent of the Board in granting permission to Lagrand Chase to build an addi- tional house or houses on his property on Pleasant Grove Road is requested. The exact wording of the Board minutes seems to indicate permission to build one house on a specific lot on that property. Other wording in the specific instructions of the Attorney and Engineer seem to indicate permission to build more than one house on Mr. Chase's proposed layout. A plot plan will be available at the Board meeting. One zoning permit was issued for a garage addition at an estimated cost of $8000.• One permit for a sign was issued.
