George, Fire Chief RE: Report of the Cayuga Heights Fire Department for the month of February 1979 There were 15 general alarms and 8 incident reports in February 1979. On February 2nd, at 4:30 a.m., the Department responded to Pyramid Mall on an alarm malfunction. Ten men and 3 trucks responded. On February 3rd, at 9:46 p.m., a burning odor in a house at 114 The Parkway called out the Department. Twenty -one men and 3 trucks responded. On February 4th, at 8:26 p.m., the Department was requested under mutual aid to standby at Cayuga Heights station for the Lansing Department, as all of the equip- ment was committed at a working fire. Eighteen men stood by for 40 minutes. A gas odor caused by an overheated furnace called out the Department on Feb. 4th, at 12:39 p.m., at 528 Warren Road. Twenty -five men and 4 trucks responded. An alarm malfunction called out the Department under mutual aid to Pyramid Mall on February 5th, at 6:49 a.m. Eleven men and 3 trucks responded. On February 8th, at 12:49 p.m., the Department was called to 425 Cayuga Heights Rd. A short in an electric refrigerator caused an odor and smoke. Twelve men and 3 trucks responded. A chimney fire at 302 Tareyton Drive called out the Department on February 9th, at 7:19 p.m. Twenty men and two trucks responded. On February 11th, at 11:11 a.m., food burning on a stove was responsible for an alarm at Lansing West Apartments. Fifteen men and 3 trucks responded. On February 12th, at 4:05 p.m., the Department was called to 903 Triphammer Road. A broken hot water pipe in the heating system filled a basement with steam. Twenty - one men and 4 trucks responded. On February 13th, at 10:12 a.m., the Department was called to the Laundromat at Triphammer Shopping Plaza. Steam from an exhaust pipe came into the store, and the occupants believed it to be smoke. Ten men and 3 trucks responded. On February 15th, at 11:42 a.m., a dumpster fire near 402 Winston Court Apartments called out the Department. Ten men and 3 trucks responded. An alarm malfunction at BOCES was responsible for an alarm on February 16th, at 3:50 a.m. Seventeen men and 4 trucks responded. On February 19th, at 10:30 a.m., the Department was called to 23 Muriel Street for a working house fire. Twenty -eight men and 4 trucks responded. - 2 - On February 24th, at 7:23 a.m., the Department was requested under mutual aid for a crew and one engine to standby at Ithaca Central Fire Station. Their equipment was all committed at two working fires. Twenty -eight men stood by in Ithaca and at Cayuga Heights stations. One engine engine was sent to Ithaca. On February 27th, at 3:23 a.m., the Department was called to 424 Klinewoods Road where a furnace had exploded. Thirty -one men and 4 trucks responded. In February there were 8 incident responses as follows: first aid - 3; auto acci- dent - l; flooded basement - 2; electric pole fire - 1; assist Cayuga Heights Police - 1.
