Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for October 1978 The Police Department handled 71 complaints and investigated 2 motor vehicle accidents. There were 87 traffic tickets and 52 parking tickets issued during the month. There were three felony complaints, three for burglary and one for grand larceny. There were twenty -seven misdemeanor complaints, nine for bad checks, seven for criminal mischief, three for petit larceny, three for criminal trespass, two for aggravated harassment, two for criminal possession of stolen property, and one for falsely reporting an Incident. One person age 17 was arrested for Grand Larceny Third Degree and one person was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Two Juveniles ages 15 and II were apprehended for four residential burglaries and two Juveniles ages 14 and 13 were apprehended for possession of stolen • property and they have all been referred to Family Court for further action. One Juvenile was also apprehended driving a mint -bike on the highway. There is an Increasing problem with residential burglaries, and we have developed information that there may be more planned for this winter in the Village. I will discuss this with the Board in more detail at your meeting to see if possibly a special appropriation can be made for some special equipment we need to combat this problem. There was a total of $624.53 in property reported lost or stolen during the month, and $453.38 in property was recovered by the Police Department. The full -time officers worked 20 hours overtime, and the part -time officers worked a total of 162 hours during the month. HRM:bp Respectfully, Harlin R. McEwen Chief of Police
