VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
REPORT OF ENGINEER
0 November 1978
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
An invoice has been received from our contractor, Stewart and Bennett, Inc., for
final payment for the construction of the grit chamber enclosure in the amount of
$18,650.82. There are no liens against the construction Job; the construction has
been completed; final payment is recommended by our eningeers, Teetor and Dobbins;
and approval by the Board for final payment is recommended.
The Engineer met with the Village Attorney on the contract for the operation of the
Sewage Treatment Plant. His recommendation is that the Board approve putting the
Sewage Treatment Plant operation contract out to bid. Specifications, based on
our present operation contract, are ready to go.
DRAINAGE PROBLEM
The Engineer and the Attorney met with Mr. King of Warwick Place and Mr. Otto
Schoenfeld, land developer, on a problem of drainage across Mr. King's land;
It was the Attorney's opinion that there was some obligation on each of the
three parties. Although at one time there was agreement between the patties as
to what was to be done by each of the three parties, a disagreement has come up
between Mr. Schoenfeld and Mr. King that has not as yet been resolved.
In a letter dated November 15th, Mr. Schoenfeld asked for final acceptance of
Cambridge Place at the November 20th Board meeting regardless of the state of
affairs dealing with the drainage problem.
VILLAGE GARAGE
The space heater in the Village Garage, that was purchased as a used piece of
equipment about six or eight years ago, is worn out and should be replaced. At
present, it gives off fumes and is a fire hazard. The estimated cost for a
replacement unit is $500 and the cost of installation about $100. It is recom-
mended that the Board approve this purchase and installation.
REFUSE COLLECTION
The Village's large major packer unit suffered a failure in its packing gate and
had to go to the dealer for repair for a period of two or three weeks. During
this time the Village was lucky to be able to borrow a replacement unit from the
dealer.
Because of our General Foreman's ingenuity, the Village was able to buy a large
truck body and rack for $75 which was relatevly inexpensive to convert into a
second leaf collection unit. With our two leaf - collection units the Village work
force for the first time has been able to keep up with the mountain of leaves
that has been put out for collection.

A replacement sidewalk unit has been put in on Cayuga Heights Road near Corson
Place and on Oak Hill Road near the Triphammer corner. There are many sections
of sidewalk that need repair, and these will be fitted into the Village construc-
tion program when possible.
SUNSET PARK
Difficulty was Incurred in acquiring the proper stones for repair of the masonry
walls and seats at Sunset Park. By the time a supplier was located, the mason
recommended that work be postponed until Spring because of the danger of new
mortar freezing before it had had time to cure. The Engineer agrees with this
recommendation, and repair of the walls will be scheduled for first thing In the
Spring.
