After a hearing before the New York State Unemployment Insurance Board which was attended by the Village Clerk, the Public Works Superintendent, the Village Attorney, the Village Engineer and at which the Village Clerk and the Public Works Superinten- dent testified, it was determined that Mr. Del Grover was not entitled to unemploy- ment insurance after his voluntary retirement from the Village. Mr. Steve Oltz has returned -to work after an extended period on Workmens compensa- tion for an injury received on the Job. Mr. James McKinney has turned In to the Village Office a short statement from his physician explaining his medical problem and stating that he would not be ready to return to work until September 23rd. The matter of hiring Mr. Bruce Hoyt on a permanent basis as a mechanic has not yet been finalized, as we did not receive word form the County Personnel Office on his Job description and title. STREETS To protect Remington Road where Remington Creek is undercutting the road in between Cayuga Heights Road and North Sunset, an extensive retaining wall and fill operation is In process. Mir. Neal Stamp, the adjoining property owner, has been notified and is aware of the problem. WATER Another series of water bills for repairs to water Imes in the Village has been received, approved, and are tendered for payment by the Village. There is no ques- tion on the part of the Engineer as to the approval of payment by the Village for work done on the Village mains and the Village fire hydrants. But again, the Engineer questions the procedure and the legality of approval of a charge by the Water Commission for work on private water laterals over which the Village has no control and has no knowledge and is left as a third party to collect payment after the work has been done by the Water Commission. it is again the engineer's recom- mendation that steps be taken so that the Water Commission can bill the person directly for whom the work has been done. 41 0 - 2 - SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT The Sewage Treatment Plant Operator, Gary Gleason, has determined that the disposal of sludge in a wet condition rather than a dry condition saves the Village $125 to $150 a week in the use of chemicals (mostly lime). At the present time, the dispo- sal of sludge Is by a small truck with a small tank. This is inefficient, and Mr. Gleason has proposed the purchase of a used ten -wheel truck with a 3000 - gallon tank at an approximate cost of $4000. The use of this piece of equipment would more than pay for Itself in one year in savings to the Village in chemicals, electric power, gasoline, etc., as well as to the contract Sewer Plant Operator in labor. Mr. Tyrrell and Mr. Hoyt have been asked to inspect the proposed truck for their opinion as to its condition and value. The Engineer recommends the purchase of such a truck for the Sewage Treatment Plant. REPORT OF ZONING OFFICER - September 1478 There have been no building or road opening permits issued since the last Village Board meeting. • •
