George, Fire Chief RE: Report of the Fire Department for February 1978 There were 14 general alarms and 3 incident reports In February 1978 On Feb. 9th at 6:53 p.m. the department was called to Chateau Claire Apts. on a mutual old call for an electrical fire. Three trucks and 30 men responded. On Feb. 14th at 9:C1 p.m. there was a call to 307 Blackstone Ave. for an alarm and there was no tire. A resident observed vapor from a roof vent and thought the roof was on fire. At 8:29 a.m. Feb. 15th the department was called to Pyramid Mall on a malicious false alarm. On Feb. 15th at 3:06 p.m. the department was called to 204 N. Sunset Rd. for a stove fire. Three trucks and 14 men responded. A malicious false alarm called to the department to DaWltt School on Feb. 15th at 4:14 p.m. Three trucks and 13 men responded. On Feb. 15th at 6:07 p.m. the department was called to 318 Siena Dr. A resident observed flames from an outdoor barbecue and believed the house was on fire. • A malicious false alarm called the department to DeWitt School on Feb. 16th at 7:40 p.m. Three trucks and 26 men responded. On Feb. 17th at 2:06 p.m. a stove fire at 206 Winthrop Dr. called out the depart- ment. Three trucks and 16 men responded. Also on Feb. 17th at 7:13 p.m. a malicious false alarm at DeWitt School called out the department. Four trucks and 22 men responded. A coffee maker started a small fire at Pyramid Mail and called out Ilia department on a mutual aid call on Feb. 17th at 8:03 a.m. Three trucks and 24 men respondod. On Feb. 18th at 10:49 a.m, i•lie department was called to 219 N. Triphammer Rd. Vapor from an electrical dryer caused a neighbor to believe the roof was on fire. Four trucks and 21 mon responded. The department was called on Mutual Aid to Varna to standby while their equipment was at a working fire. One truck and 10 men responded. On Feb. 23rd at 11:14 a.m. the department was called to the Telephone office on Pleasant Grove Rd. for an accidental alarm. Three trucks and 12 men responded. On Feb. 27th at 12:20 a.m. the department was called to 509 Wyckoff Ave. where a malfunction In the alarm system caused a false alarm. Four trucks and 22 men responded. There were 3 incident calls In February. Two to Investigate a gas odor and one call to loan equipment• to the City of Ithaca Fire Department.
