REPORT OF THE ENGINEER

PERSONNEL
Jack (Bert) Truax was �pending a major part of his time doing 20 omotive repast
work on Village equipment. If Mr. Truax goes on disability leave or makes a
decision to take early retirement, his budget line Item should be reclassified
as a mechanic- assistaht foreman and a new job description be prepared. It It
believed that a good candida-fe can be hired for around $11,000.
STREETS
Public Works Department Is prepared to replace a damaged culvert under N. Sunset
Drive as soon as the frost leaves the ground in that area. This will correct
a stream flow problem which has been giving Mr. Brodhead problems at his home
Just south of this culvert.
SNOW. ICE b WATER
Mr. Tyrrell has kept the problem stream areas under constant surveillance during
the period of melt -off and will continue to do so during the spring. A removal
• of snow from ditches and accumulated ice in front of culverts has been done.
The weather has been cooperative in that there has not been a heavy rain combined
with a warm weather which would accelerate the run -off rate.
FIRE HOUSE ROOF
A Fire House inspection was made by the Engineer of the Insulation over the
resident driver apartment In the Fire Station. Additional insulation was In-
stalled by the contractor and the sum of money withheld from payment to the
contractor for this work should now be paid to him. (Balance $665.00)
REPORT OF ZONING OFFICER
A request has been received from Robert S. Grant, attorney for the Corners
Community Center, requesting that a strip of property to the south and west of
the Corners Community Center fronting the east side of East Upland Rd. be rezoned
from residential to multiple housing. This strip is 498 feet long and 200 feet
in depth. This matter is for determination by the Village Board of Trustees rather
than the Village Zoning Board of Appeals.
A request for the construction of addition to the fire damaged property at 1107
Triphammer Rd. hbs been denied because the addition would exceed the land coverage
allowable under the Village zoning ordinance.
• During the'past month one zoning permit was Issued to renew a permit of a year
ago which had expired because no construction had started on the proposed Job.
No road opening permits were issued during the past month.
