Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights I respectfully submit the report of the activities of the Cayuga Heights Police Department for the Year 1977. The number of complaints handled by the Department and requests for service increased again slightly this year.. The number of index crimes as defined by the National Uniform Crime Reporting System decreased in the Village from 95 in 1976 to 79 in 1977. Driving While Intoxicated continues to be a problem and the Department arrested 32 persons for this offense in 1977 as opposed to 22 in 1976. The number of juvenile cases seems to remain fairly stable with 35 cases being handled in 1977 and 28 cases in 1976. After a years planning and training, we are about to begin a more comprehensive response for emergency medical cases, primarily in connection with cardio pulmonary resuscitation matters, in the Village. The Cayuga Heights Volunteer Fire Department will working with us to provide this service. We are continuing to provide the best possible police services to the Village, but with a small town personal approach which we,believe is what this community desires. We appreciate the support and cooperation in the past year from the Mayor and the Village Board and all of the other Village Officers. HRM:bp Respectfully , P kt Harlin R.
