Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for October 1977 The Police Department handled 67 complaints and investigated 4 motor vehicle accidents. There were 159 traffic tickets and 61 parking tickets issued during the month. There were five felony complaints, -three for burglary, one for grand larceny and one for attempt to commit the crime of burglary. There were seventeen misdemeanor complaints, five for petit larceny, five for criminal trespass, four for criminal mischief, two for criminal tampering and one for bad check. Two persons were arrested for driving while intoxicated.. One juvenile was apprehended in connection with a theft of mail investigation which had been in progress since last August. The juvenile was referred to Family Court. A request has been received by the Mayor from'Mrs. Pat Habicht who resides at 26 Spruce Lane to install street lighting on Spruce Lane. • Trustee Anderson and I have looked at three different type of street light /pole arrangements for areas >rith underground wiring and will have photos of each available for the Board to look at during the meeting. Part -time Patrolman Merton J. IJallenbeck has again been appointed to the position of Ithaca Town Justice to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Sally Jackle and has therefore requested we grant him a one year leave of absence effective November 9, 1977. I recommend that this be approved. Our Halloween patrol went well this year and we had the added assistance of the Cornell Amateur Radio Club and three teenage boys who were very helpful. There was a total of $3,503.25 in property reported lost or stolen during the month and $2,753.04 in property recovered by thz, police department.
