HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Engineer 11/21/1977VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS REPORT OF ENGINEER - November 21, 1977 WALTER HAYES RETIREMENT Walter Hayes, after long service to the Village, is due to retire this month. During the fiscal year 1976 -77, Mr. Hayes did not take any vacation in an effort to be helpful to the Village. In recognition of Mr. Hayes's long and faithful service to the Village, I recommend that an exception be made and that Mr. Hayes be paid for the vacation he earned and did not take during the fiscal year 1976 -77. FIRE HOUSE ROOF The McCarthy contractors have been delayed In acquiring the shingles specified for the roof. Therefore, the Job has not yet been started. WATER BILLS There are some outstanding bills from the Water Commission for work on the Village lines. A policy statement from the Board as to how these should be handled is requested. SEWAGE FROM WEST SIDE OF ROUTE 13 Donald J. Belcher has requested permission to sewer his property west and north of Route 13 through an 18 -inch sleeve that he laid beneath Route 13 before it was constructed. This would mean a private pump station for Mr. Belcher and a pressure lateral to connect into the North Sunset Drive village sewer main. 1 see no problems with granting this permission. Mr. Belcher also would like to know the present plans for the construction of a trunk sewer line that will serve the Cayuga Heights properties along the west side of Route 13. LEAF COLLECTION To prepare the 13 -year old leaf vacuum trunk for this year's collection it was necessary to have springs, shock absorbers, and brake lines overhauled. Many, many truck loads of leaves have been picked up, but there are still a few areas where they still are to be collected. Leaves have been delivered to residents where requests have been made for -them and where the residents will properly care for the leaves and use them for their. ?FSV:n humus piles. VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS - REPORT OF ZONING OFFICER - November 21, 1977 Since the last monthly report there have been 9 zoning permits Issued for additions and alterations to existing buildings for a total estimated cost of $86,660. Also, one permit was Issued for new construction for an estimated cost of $95,000. A request has been made of the Zoning Officer for a statement that a newly con- structed house meets the zoning laws. The owner Indicates that he cannot receive a morgage until he gets such a statement. The owner, Mr. Pekos, whose new house is in the 600 block of Cayuga Heights Road was notified of the Board of Trustees' resolution that the Zoning Officer was not to make such certifications.
