HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Engineer Aug 1977J >1.4 i VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS REPORT OF THE ENGINEER - August 1977 SEWER LINES Three hundred fifty feet of sewer line on Midway Road has been replaced to correct infiltration and stoppage problems. The 10 -inch sewer main between The Parkway and Midway Road has been replaced to correct infiltration and a stoppage problem of Mr. Skinner. It was found that the Skinner lateral extended 6 inches Into the Village sewer main, thus causing an obstruction. This was corrected before the pipe was recovered. infiltration studies continue. Through smoking of the sani- tary lines, it was found that a connection from the storm sewer existed near the corner of White Park Road and The Parkway. This is scheduled for repair. STREETS The shoulder of Triphammer Road is scheduled to be finished as soon as a pugmili plant mix can be obtained from The Cortland Asphalt Co. Pleasant Grove Road has been sealed. Spray patching throughout the Village with an application c° stone has been effective in repairing cracked pavement and low spots in the roadis. By the use of the motorized street sweeper, we are able to collect the excess; stone from the roads for reuse either for sewer pipe bedding or road shoulders. Midway Road is in the process of being ditched and paving of this road should take place within the next month. FIRE HOUSE The Engineer met with Trustees Randolph, Philbrlck, and Anderson and Fire Chief George on the paving of the fire house parking lot and driveway. A plan was devised, and permission is requested to put out for bid the installation of a grate - covered trench in front of the fire house doors. WATER The Village has received Water Commission bills in a large amount. The bills for inspection have been put to one side by Trustee Philbrick. The other bills for repair on Village water lines are being reviewed, and a recommendation will be made at the monthly meeting. PARKS The small Village park at the corner of The Parkway and White Park Place roads has extensive undergrowth and small trees growing under some large, beautiful pine trees. It is.my recommendation this underbrush and small trees be removed, leaving only the large pines. The recommendation of the Village Forester is requested. REPORT OF THE ZONING OFFICER - August 1977 There were no zoning permits Issued during the past month. The Zoning Board of Appeals met on July 13th and denied the request of Mr. Andrew McPherson to con- struct a tool shed closer than 15 feet from the back and sides of his property lines.
