George, Fire Chief RE: Fire Department Report for the month of July 1977 There were 10 general fire alarms and 3 incident reports in July 1977. On July 4th, the Department was called on mutual aid to assist in the Town of Lansing with four other departments at a well digging rig where gas had been escaping. The well was capped. One engine and 8 men worked on this date. On July 5th, at 10:20 a.m., an accidental alarm was sounded through the station Flex - alarm during a thunderstorm. Five men responded before the monitors were used to advise the alarm was false. The Department was called to 304 The Parkway on July 5th at 10:29 a.m. when a neighbor mistook lightning flashes during a thunderstorm for a fire. Three pieces of equipment and 15 men responded. On July 5th, at 10:50 p.m., an electrical short in a home at 810 Triphammer Road caused smoke and called out the Department. Four pieces of apparatus and 22 men • responded. On July 8th, at 7 :28 p.m., an electrical short caused a small fire in a wall at Apt. 3F, Bldg. 4 at Warrenwood Apts. Four pieces of apparatus and 16 men responded. The Department was called to Apt. IF, Bldg. 7 at Warrenwood Apts. on July 15th, at 12:10 a.m. when a person fell asleep on a couch with a cigarette and set the couch on fire. Three pieces of apparatus and 19 men responded. An accidental false alarm called out the Department on mutual aid to the Marine Midland Bank on N. Triphammer Road on July 15th at 8:20 a.m. Three pieces of appar- atus and 16 men responded. A false alarm during a -thunder storm called the Department to the Northeast School on July 19th at 2 :40 p.m. Four pieces of apparatus and II men responded. On July 21st, at 8:38 a.m., the Department was called to 1018 Hanshaw Road when smoke was observed by a house. Upon arrival, it was found the smoke was coming from a sewer line where the public works department was putting smoke In the lines to locate leaks. Four pieces of apparatus and 14 men responded. On July 21st, at 2:50 p.m., the Department was called to Bldg. 2 at Lansing West Apartments when a thunder storm caused an electrical line to break and fall across the back porch of the building. On July 24th, at 11:30 p.m., the Department received a mutual aid call to the • Pyramid Mall. Before the trucks could leave the station, the call was cancelled as there was no fire. Fifteen men responded. A grease fire in the Red Carpet Restaurant at Triphammer Mail was responsible for a mutual aid call on July 26th, at 1;52 p.m. Three pieces of apparatus and 13 men responded. • 0 0 Fire Departmont Roporh fo, n4 .laly 1977 page 2 On July 30th, at 8:22 p.m., the Department was called to Chateau Claire Apts. for an electrical fire. The call was cancelled before any trucks left the station. Seven men responded before the call was cancelled on the monitors. There were three incident calls in July 1977. One smoke odor, one drowning in the Town of Lansing, and a false alarm caused by the Dispatcher at Fire Control touching a wrong button. The Fire Council requests permission to purchase a scoop stretcher for $158.25 and two yoke -type oxygen regulators at $76.85 each for a total of $311.95. These Items were approved in this year's budget and the money is available. .. . / .
