REPORT OF ENGINEER
7/18/77
STREETS
Repair of Triphammer Road by the placing of two wearing courses at the cost of the
contractor is now completed. Keeping traffic from driving on the road too soon
after it was paved was a major problem. Barricades at each access road to Tripham-
mer Road were used as well as flagmen at each major access and a Police Officer for
three full days at the intereection of Triphammer and Hanshaw Roads. The addition
of the Police Officer for traffic control was a great help and appreciation is
expressed to the Police Dept. for their cooperation.
To smooth out the surface of Pleasant Grove Road, which was damaged by traffic
driving on it too soon after its placement, application of the wearing surface like
that on Triphammer Road was anticipated. Because the durability of such a sur-
face is still In question until we have had a year's trial on Triphammer Road, the
resurfacing of Pleasant Grove Read with such a wearing surface has been delayed and
Pleasant Grove Road will be surface treated with the application of liquid asphalt
and stone chips. It will seal the road as well as level out some of the irregular
surface.
DITCHING AND WATER CONTROL
The Village continues to receive many requests for water control of the many streams
that flow through the Village. Whether ditching within the road right of way and
the improvement of culverts under the road will solve the problems needs to be
discussed with the residents and accomplished by the Village work force as time
permits. When the problem Is one that requires work on private property, the gen-
eral policy is to refer the matter to the property owner for correction.
VILLAGE HALL
Painting work is again under way at the Village Hall. It had been delayed because
of the painting contractor's illness.
Report was made of a leak in the roof above the Jewelry store. It is a leak in the
flashing of the connection between the two slate roofs and evidently not a leak in
the slate. A detailed examination will be made; and If it is necessary, a roofing
specialist will be brought in to repair the problem.
