SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for May 1977
The Police Department handled 102 complaints and investigated 12 motor
vehicle accidents. There were 138 traffic tickets and 16 parking tickets
issued during the month.
There was one felony complaint during the month for criminal possession of
a fDrged instrument. There were twenty -three misdemeanor complaints, six
for petit larceny, five for bad checks, four for criminal mischief, two
for criminal trespass, two for aggravated harassment, two for illegal
possession of fireworks, one for public lewdness, and one for assault
third degree.
Two persons were arrested for falsely reporting an incident (fire alarm),
two persons were arrested for driving while intoxicated, one person was
arrested for public lewdness and one person was arrested for petit larceny.
• Two juveniles were apprehended for a curfew violation, two for setting a
fire and three for illegal possession of fireworks.
Trustee Anderson who is chairman of the street light committee has been in
contact with me and we are making arrangements to start our investigation of
street lighting and hopefully will have a report for the Board in the near
future. The street name signs approved by the Board at the May meeting have
not been ordered waiting for approval of the type of posts to be used by the
Village Engineer.
The improvements to the police telephone system have been completed and the
telephone has been installed in front of the Village Hall. Some of the new
equipment for an improved emergency cardio pulmonary resuscitation response
has been received and the remaining equipment is expected to be delivered
and installed during June.
The 1975 Nova police car was sold for $1525 to the high bidder after
consultation with a local car dealer as recommended by the Treasurer.
There was a total of $467.27 in property reported lost or stolen during
the month and $398.66 in property was recovered by the Police Department.
The officers worked a total of 17 hours overtime during the month.
