HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Police Chief for April 1977" , U ruLIUM DFBAUTMKIT VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEI(ill7'$ May 16, 1977 TO: Honorable Frederick 0. Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for April 1977 The Police Department handled 70 complaints and investigated 6 motor vehicle accidents. There were 112 traffic tickets and 11 parking tickets issued during the month. There were three felony complaints received during the month, one for grand larceny, one for attempt to commit the crime of burglary and one for criminal possession of a forged instrument. There were twenty -one misdemeanor complaints eight for bad checks, four for criminal trespass, three for criminal mischief, three for petit larceny, two for falsely reporting incident (fire alarm), and one for public lewdness. Five persons were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, one person for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and one person for Iesuing a Bad Check. One juvenile was apprehended for curfew violation and one for disorderly conduah. I have been surveying the street name signs in the Village for the past several months as the result of complaints concerning missing signs. The Mayor has also received a complaint concerning this matter. We have not purchased any replacements for street name signs in over three years and I recommend this now be done. I will explain the proposal further at the Village Board meeting but for reference, we need 43 signs and brackets at a cost of $725.41. We have advertised for bids on the 1975 Nova 4 door sedan which was formerly used as a police car. Twice we advertised for minimum bids of $2300 and received no bids. The third time we advertised with no minimum bid required and received only one bid for $1525. I would recommend that you seriously consider accepting this bid inasmuch as there appears to be little interest in people purchasing it and it has been sitting in our lot for over two months. There was a total of $1,076.10 in property reported lost or stolen during the month and $441.02 in property recovered by the Police Department. The officers worked a total of 25 hours overtime during the month. Resp(ect/fJully, *441 Harlin R. McEwen Chief of Police • HRM:bp
