Marcham, Mayor, and Membors of Board of Trustees FROM: Lowell T. George, Fire Chief RE: Fire Department Report for the month of February 1977. There were five general Fire alarms and 16 incident calls in February. On February 1st, at 12:55 p.m., the Department was called to 501 Salem Drive for a washing machine fire. Seventeen men and 4 pieces of apparatus responded. An electrical fire in a cellar called out the Department on February 4th, at 2:55 p.m., to 129 Muriel Street. Seventeen men and 3 pieces of apparatus responded. A false alarm at BOCES, Bldg. C., on February 17th, at 2:15 p.m., called out the Department. One truck responded before we were called and told that the alarm was accidental. Twelve men responded to the station. On February 21st, at 4:11 p.m., the Department was requested to respond to a Mutal Aid at Pyramid Mall for a fire which was set in a hallway in the rear of the Endicott Johnson Shoe Store. On February 25th, at 10:14 a.m., the Department was called to Route 13 for a truck fire. Two trucks and 12 men responded. The Department responded to 16 incidents in February, all of which were flooding in homes. Fourteen of the calls were on February 24th. Eighteen men worked from 7 :00 p,m. to 1:00 a.m. assisting residents on these calls. Our 2 -inch portable pump was used on a number of these calls. All of the calls came in between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m., and the men had to wait for the pump to be used on one house before they could respond to the next call. If the Department could obtain another pump, the volunteers could complete the work in half the time. REPORT OF FIRE INSPECTIONS - January $ February 1977 Inspections were made at: 106 Cayuga Heights Road 107 Cayuga Heights Road 319 Highland Road 106 Overlook Road Warren Road 909 Hanshaw Road 910 Hanshaw Road 509 Wyckoff Road Sigma Chi Fraternity Multiple residence Multiple residence Multiple residence BOCES Ned's Corners Station Benicki's Mobil Service Multiple residence Generally speaking, conditions at these locations were satisfactory. There were, however, some problem areas. In such instances, we are working on their correc- tion with the building oemors.
