HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of Engineer Jan 1977VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS REPORT OF ENGINEER - January 1977 SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT Ono hundred five thousand dollars for work completed to date by the contractor is being withheld pending approval by the State of the Change Order for the extension of tuna of completion. The State cannot get to reviewing these Change Orders until July or August of 1977; but in discussion with Mr. Charles Rudic, there seems to be no problem with approval of the change order for the extension of time of comple- tion, and the State hever has denied such a change order. I do not feel the Village should withhold payment of this $105,000 to the contractor on the technical- I ity'. There are a few minor things the contractor has not completed to date as follows: 1) Submission of backup Information on the cost of the grit chamber enclosure change and extra. 2) Installation of tannic hardware on the chlorine room. 3) Provision of replacement sprockets for the floculation tank chain drive agitators. Upon completion of these things, I would recommend that the $105,000 be paid to Stewart $ Bennett. • We have been informed through our consulting engineers that the State does not feel that our Sewer Use Ordinance is adequate, and Mr. Kenneth Stevens of the Plant Operation Division will be writing us to suggest some future changes in our ordi- nance. STREETS Extreme cold weather and snow have kept the street crews busy in snow removal. Con- siderable overtime has been necessary because of snow storms at night and during the weekends. A mix of coarse sand or grits (washed) and salt are still being used on the roads in the proportions of about 2 sand or grits to I of salt. With con- siderable work, the roads seem to be In good condition and about as safe as can be expected under these severe weather conditions. DIESEL FUEL OIL TANK AND PUMP The Fire Department wishes to have a diesel fuel tank and a pump installed at the Fire Station. While not absolutely necessary for the Public Works road crews, it would be helpful to have a diesel fuel oil dispensing pump at the Fire Station for public works trucks. It is anticipated in the future that we will have more diesel operated trucks. We now have three such vehicles. REPORT OF ZONING OFFICER - January 1977 During the past month one road opening permit was Issued and one sign permit was r issued to Rosetti Associates for a sign at the Community Corners in front of the newly renovated restaurant.
