TELEPHONE 607. 257.1011 CHIEF OF POLICE February 22, 1977 Honorable Frederick G. Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights I respectfully submit the report of the activities of the Cayuga Heights Police Department for the Year 1976. The number of complaints handled by the Department and requests for service continued to increase again this year. The number of index crimes as defined by the National Uniform Crime Reporting System increased in the Village from 83 in 1975 to 95 in 1976. The dog control ordinance seems to be working well and there was a substantial increase in complaints this year. We continue to try and enforce the ordinance in a fair but firm manner. A dramatic increase in Driving While Intoxicated arrests from 5 to 22 prompted us to apply for and receive a federal /state grant to purchase a new breathalyzer instrument for the use of the Department. All of the officers also received training this year in the operation of the breathalyzer from the N.Y. State Bureau for Municipal Police. An increase in oxygen calls has encouraged us to train the officers in the advanced cardio pulmonary resuscitation method and hopefully we will be able to provide an even better service in conjunction with some members of the Fire Department in the years ahead. This is still in the planning stages. We appreciate the support and cooperation in the past year from the Mayor, the Village Board and other Village Officers.
