Miller, P.E., on the sewer line across the Tucker property on Berkshire Road has not been completed, as Mr. Miller is waiting for the comple- tion of the Pyramid report to be made by consulting engineers for the Village of Lansing. Mr. Miller explained that the report for the Village of Lansing is being made by a reputable consulting engineering firm and that the same factual data gathered for their report would be the basis of his report. He felt it would serve no purpose for him to incur added costs for the Village by obtaining the same fac- tual data. Obviously, the interpretation of the data and the conclusions drawn from the basic facts will be entirely separate in Engineer Miller's report. SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT ADDITIONS Final inspection was made at the Sewage Treatment Plant on November 16, 1976 with representatives of the State and Federal Government agencies as well as Teetor - Dobbins; Stewart and Bennett; Mr. Gary Gleason, the Village Sewage Treatment Plant operator; and the Village Engineer. Teetor- Dobbins has been notified by the D.E.C. that the contract will be held open to allow the completion of the grit chamber enclosure and the acquiring of spare parts for the operation of the plant. At the request of Teetor - Dobbins, the D.E.C. made a decision that, although not originally included as eligible costs, regulations had changed and that now spare parts for the operation of the plant will be considered as eligible funds. Mr. Gleason has submitted a list of parts, and a proposal from Stewart and Bennett for supplying • the parts is being obtained in preparation for submission of a formal change order to the Board. Consideration should be given at this meeting to authorizing the payment of the outstanding bills to Teetor- Dobbins for services rendered. These will be included in the Abstract of Audited Vouchers. PERSONNEL Permission was received from the State to continue Mr. Walter Hayes in employment to November 30, 1977. To permit the Village Public Works Superintendent flexibili- ty in his operation and to make most economic use of the monies available in the budget, a request is made of the Board to establish three part -time labor positions and three seasonal labor positions. This is to meet the requirements of the County Personnel Office. It will cost the Village no more money, but will allow us to hire part -time laborers to fill in without a long delay In paper work. STREETS We have Just received notice that bulk deicing salt will be increased in price by 161 effective December 30, 1976. Although streets are all clear at this time, it has been a difficult early winter with temperatures below freezing for.most of the time since the .last week in November. • REPORT OF ENGINEER - December 1976 pg 2 • FIRE HOUSE ROOF The contractor was unable to complete the change order on the old fire house roof for the amount of money he submitted as a top price, although he realizes he is bound by the $900 top limit on this change order, he is requesting of the Board an additional amount of approximately $300. His original bid had an extra for the replacement of tectum roofing panels that were hidden on the northwest corner of the roof. Provision in the contract called for additional cost if additional tectum was needed. REPORT OF THE ZONING OFFICER - December 1976 The Zoning Board of Appeals met on November 8, 1976 to consider a request from the Corners Community Center, Inc., for a zoning variance regarding three on- premises signs. It was determined by the Board that no variance would be granted for a north entrance sign to be erected on Village property and that a temporary variance would be granted for the signs with certain conditions as spelled out in the Zoning Board of Appeals report. The Zoning Board of Appeals met on November 16, 1976 to consider a request from Mr. James V. Buyoucos, representing Mr. Alan Gunn, for a zoning variance to his . property at 103 Midway Road. It was determined by the Board of Zoning Appeals that the property was a pre - existing building lot and that its size is valid because of its pre- existing,non- conforming use. A zoning permit was requested and Issued to the property at 515 Highland Road to divide the property at 515 Highland Road to divide the property into two building lots. During the past month, three zoning permits were issued: one for the construction of a new one - family house at $60,000; one for alterations and additions of $2,600; and a third for the division of a lot into two building lots.
