The Board of Fire Commissioners and the Fire Chief of the Lansing Fire Department has requested the Cayuga Heights Fire Department to respond under mutual aid with one engine and one ladder truck to all first alarms at mercantile establishments and apartment complexes. We were not advised the duration of this request. The recently developed CPR (Cardiac - Pulmonary Resuscitation) emergency technique for saving lives In cardiac and pulmonary emergencies has caused the Police and Fire Department to reassess their methods of first aid and equipment needs in this area. We have decided to re- appropriate present equipment between departments as follows: I. Two oxygen inhalators presently being carried in the police patrol cars will be transferred to the Fire Department. 2. The Stephenson Scout Resuscitator owned by the Fire Department will be conver- ted for CPR use at a cost of about $170 and then transferred to the Police Department. w3. The Stephenson Strout Resuscitator owned by the Police Department will be con- verted for CPR use at a cost of about $170. 4. This will then put a CPR resuscitator In each police car. 5. Training will be given by Bob Hults, a CHFD member, to both policemen and firemen in CPR techniques. Chief McEwen and I therefore respectfully request Board approval to expend approxi- mately $170 from the Fire Department equipment budget and $170 from the Police Department budget to accomplish the aforementioned goals.
