SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for September 1976
The Police Department handled 76 complaints and investigated 11 motor vehicle
accidents. There were 118 traffic tickets and 30 parking tickets issued
during the month.
There were three felony complaints, one for burglary, one for grand larceny,
and one for arson. There were fourteen misdemeanor complaints, five for criminal
trespass, three for bad checks, two for petit larceny, two for aggravated harass-
ment, one for criminal mischief and one for assault third degree.
One person was arrested for the felony of Arson in the third degree and in
connection with this arrest Officers Robert D. Day and David J. Hall traveled
to Los Angeles to return the defendant. The travel expenses were paid by the
by the District Attorney's Office. Two persons were also arrested for Driving
While Intoxicated. One juvenile was apprehended for aggravated harassment in
connection with annoying telephone calls.
The Village Board at a special meeting held on September 28, 1976, by Resolution
No. 2616, authorized the spending of 5153.43 to purchase a breathalyzer simulator
from Fromark Corp. This expenditure can now be cancelled inasmuch as I have
negotiated the loan of a new breathalyzer, simulator and field testing kit from
the Bureau for Municipal Police of the N.Y. State Division of Criminal Justice
Services. I appreciate the support of the board in this matter.
There wns a total of x,1463.43 in property reported lost or stolen during the
month and a total of 591.91 in property recovered by the Police Department.
The officers worked a total of 62 hours overtime during the month.
I will be on vacation during the veek of October 18th and Sgt. Cooper will attend
the Village Bored meeting and be available to answer any questions you may have.
