SUBJECT: Report of the Police Chief for July 1976
The Police Department handled 73 complaints and investigated 5 motor vehicle
accidents. There wero 66 traffic tiukets and 7 parking tickets issued during
the month.
There were two felony complaints, both for residential burglaries. There here
twenty nine misdemeanor complaints, six for criminal mischief, five for bad
check, five for criminal trespass, four for oggraysted he-raeoment, three for
petit larceny, three for r11legol possession of fi-rowuika, one for possession of
weapons, one for alcoholic beverage control law and one attempt to commit the
crime of larecr_y.
Two persons were arrested for burgInry which in turn 'resulted in the solution
of numerous other burglaries and larcenies in the Village and other jurisdictions,
including several armed robberies in other jurisdictions. Both of the subjects
were apprehended in North Carolina and were returned to Cayuga Heights by
Chief Non. ien and Investigator Guest of the Sheriff's Department. A large amount
of stolen property was recovered in connection with this investigation grid it
is expected further items will be recovered. Two persons were arrested for bad
checks during the month. five juveniles were apprehended during the month,
one in connection with the above burglar; irvertigatiun, one for illegal
possession of a weapon, and three fnr illegal. possession of fireworks.
There was a total of 11653.55 in property reported lost or stolen during the
month and a total of ;:1,348.30 in property recovered by the Police Department.
I vould again like to remind the Villags Board that no meeting has been scheduled
between the Public Yorks Committee and the Police Department to resolve the problem
of emergency call outs for the Public Vorks Department. I would also like to
express our appreciation to the mexb,�r, of the Board who came out and assisted
in the July 11th flooding.
The officers worked a total of 36 hours overtime during the month.
