The Fire Chic•f h:,s bFen asked by the Fire Council for permission to purchase six
50 -foot lengths of li -inch hose at the state contract price of $1.04 per foot
($52.00 per 50 -foot section) for a total of $312.00.
• In testing our hose we found three 50 -foot lengths of 11-Inch hose purchased in
the 1950's which are no longer serviceable. After a fire, we have to dry our wet
hose for 12 hours and now we do not have sufficient extra hose to replace the used
hose on one truck.
We have the necessary funds In this year's budget.
SUBJECT: Report of Fire Inspection, April 1976
Since the last report, the following Inspections have been made:
318 Highland Road - Acacia Fraternity
316 Highland Road - Indelicato Property
312 Highland Road - Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity
330 Triphammer Road - Pi Beta Phi Sorority
Other than minor recommendations concerning the use of temporary wiring (extension
cords) In fraternities and sororities, conditions were generally excellent. I was
particularly Impressed with the fact that all of the student owned occupancies had
fire alarm systems with secondary battery power sources that were up -to -date and
functional. One of the problems In past years has been with fire alarm systems
and secondary power. It was gratifying to see the apparent interest In life safety.
Other life safety features such as automatic sprinkler systems, fire doors, exit
signs, etc., were also found to be operative and in acceptable condition.
