Delays in acquiring necessary motor parts and control parts have caused a delay in the completion of the secondary treatment system. Delay in the construction of the lime slurry system has held up the completion of the tertiary treatment. STREETS The second mowing of the streets right of way and empty lots has begun. The removal of the sidewalk in front of the Freeman house on Highland Road has been completed. A small section of sidewalk in front of the neighbor to the north was requested by that neighbor, Mrs. Jorrissen,to remain. It was not removed. An additional small section south of the Freeman property near the corner of Remington Road was removed. Where the sidewalk was removed, top soil was replaced and the area was seeded. The headwall just south of the Davis property one N. Triphammer Road has been.,com- • pleted, and a section of sidewalk that`was removed during constructicn was replaced. Additional work was done on cleaning culverts and storm water systems throughout the Village during the past month in response to notification of storm water pro- blems after our last heavy rainfall. The Engineer met with Mr. Edmundson of the County Planning Board on the plans for routing traffic around the congested areas of the University and the City. The plan involves cooperation between the Towns of Ithaca and Lansing and the Village of Cayuga Heights, and the County. Mention was made of the Village's desire to handle some kind of pedestrian and bike traffic on Pleasant Grove Road. Mr. Edmundson said there was a possibility of including this in the overall plan of the County, and that possibly an application for some Federal or State funds for a bikeway could be investigated. Our major problem of traffic at the Triphammer and Hanshaw intersection was discussed. It was agreed that the Village would run traffic counts and some origin and destination studies for the flow of traffic through this intersection and supply to the County Planning Board some time before ± Fall. This will fit in with the Village plan of taking traffic surveys as soon il,' as the overpass over Route 13 was opened. This overpass is now open, although ;.' the slip ramps have not been entirely completed. j SEAM LINES In a registered letter, the Engineer was notified by Mr. Tom E. Davis of 211 North f Triphammer Road that a seater main became blocked and sewage backed up into the lateral into the lower part of his house. At the time of this backup, the Village forces cleared the sewer line and inspected the sewer mains that were upstream from this sewer blockage. Also, flushing of sewer line was undertaken, all in an effort to reduce the possibility of a re- occurrence to the greatest extent. The Engineer was notified by the Village Clerk that a court claim was filed by Mr. 1 Davis. This is the second time Mr. Davis has had a sewer backup into his house. page 2 • Report of Engineer - August 1975 The time before this, the stoppage occurred in another line into which his sewer main flowed; and because the elevation of his sewer later and plumbing fixtures in the lower floor of his'house was below the elevation of the top of the manhole in the street, the sewage flowed into his house.
