VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
REPORT OF FIRE CHIEF
On June 1, 1975, a false alarm at Cayuga Heights School called out the department
at 2:30 p.m. Engines 201, 202, Truck 234, and Car 261 responded with 14 men.
On June 3, 1975, at 12:25 a.m., a false alarm was again received from Cayuga
Heights School. Engine 201, 202, Car 261, and Truck 234 responded with 11 men.
A brash fire near a building at 115 Halcyon Hill Road occurred at 12:25 p.m.
on June 3, 1975. Engine 201, Car 261, and 15 men responded.
At 7:33 p.m., June 9, 1975, the Department responded to 305 Muriel Street where
waste cans in an outbuilding were on fire. Engine 201, 202, Truck 234, and Car
261 answered the alarm with 15 men.
A false alarm at Northeast School occurred when the school officials reset the
alarm system after a fire drill at 11:09 a.m, on June 10, 1975. Engines 201,
202, and 8 men responded before the monitors reported the call was a false
alarm.
On June 14, 1975, at 7:00 p.m., smoke frcm a chicken barbecue at Cornell Univer-
sity Ecology House on Triphammer Road caused a neighbor to telephone in an alarm.
Engines 201, 202, Truck 234, and Car 261 responded with 9 men.
A fire in a compost pile at the rear of 1317 Hanshaw Road called out the Depart-
ment at 11:13 p.m. on June 15, 1975. Engines 201, 202, and Car 261 with 27 men
responded.
On June 22, 1975, County Fire Control requested our Department to stand by for
a call to the County Airport. A small plane had reported their signaling device
did not indicate the wheels were down and locked prior to their landing. Five
men responded to the station before Fire Control reported 5 minutes later that
the plane had landed safely.
The Department also responded to 10 incidents during July as follows: 1 gas
odor; 2 calla for a gasoline flush; 1 standby for a rain storm; 2 smoke odors;
2 calla for a flooded basement apartment; 1 wires down; 1 dangerous condition.
