HomeMy WebLinkAboutFire Department Report for Oct 1974CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT Report for October, 1974 The Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to seven alarms during the month of October. All the alarms were of minor nature. On October 2, 1974 at 4 :50 P.M. and on October 7, 1974 at 8:38 A.M. the Department responded to 607 Hanshaw Road. There was a malfunc- tion in the Flexalarm System both times. Engines 201 and 202 respond- ed to the first alarm and Engine 202, Ladder 234 with Car 261 respond- ed to the second alarm. A total of 21 men answered both alarms. The Department was called to 308 Winthrope Drive on October 14th at 11 :41 A.M. A dishwasher had shorted out and was smoking. Engines 201, 202, Ladder 234 and Car 261 responded with 9 men. Again on October 14th at 7 :37 P,M., the Department was. called to 102 Highgate Road. An overstuffed chair *ras set afire by care- less smoking. The chair was the only thing destroyed. Engines 201, 202, Ladder 234 and Car 261 responded with 21 men. On October 23rd:land 10 :07 A.M.,the fire department went to Brooks Pharmacy at the Village Green Shoppbng Center. There was no fire. Eight men responded with Engines 201, 202 and Car 261. A gasoline tanker spilled 50 gallons of gas at the Mobil Gas Station on Hanshaw Road on October 23rd.at 11:47 A.M. Engine 201 and Car 261 went to flush the gas with 9 men. On Sunday, October 27th at 4:27 P.M., the Department answered an alarm at Lansing West Apartments for a sgiaking furance. Engines 2010 202, Ladder 234 and Car 261 reponded with 15 men. The change over on the hydrants, hose and nozzles from Ithaca Thread to National Standard Thread ft now completed. The north- east section of the Town of Ithaca, which thb Village contracts with, is also completed. Lowell T. George Fire Chief
