The Fire Department responded to six alarms during the month
of September, 1974. There was no actual fire loas';
On September 4, 1974 at 5:04 P.M. the Department responded
to the Cayuga Heights School. The N. Y. Telephone Co. had caused
a malfunction in the alarm system and there was no fire. Engines
201, 202 and Car 261 responded with 13 men.
Engine 201 responded to a gas flush on Pleasant Grove Road
on September 11, 1974 at 7 :30 P.M. Three men handled the call.
Seven men, Engine 202 and Car 261 went to Varna's fire
station for standby on September 13, 1974. Varna had a working
barn fire on Route 366.
A thunderstorm caused the alarm to go off at the Cayuga
Heights School on September 13, 1974 at 6:34 P.M. Three pieces
of equipment; Engines 201, 202 and Car 261 answered the alarm
with 16 man.
On Monday, September 23, 1974, the Fire Department was called
to the Country Couple at the Triphammer Shopping Plaza to investi-
gate a strong odor of smoke, Engines 201, 202, and Car 261 respond-
40 ed with 19 men. No fire was discovered.
On September 24, 1974 at 12:00 P.M., rubbish was found on
fire on Burleigh Drive. Engine 201 and Car 261 responded with
4 men.
An Ithaca fireman has been employed to change the hydrant§,
hoses and nozzles from Ithaca thread to National Standard
thread. The change over will be completed very shortly.
