On July 12, 1974 a small explosion and fire occurred in the furnace room of our Fire Station. The fire was caused by a mal- function in the gas furnace which caused the pilot light to go out. We received one bid for a new fire pumper from Halpin Fire Equipment Co. for a Seagrave pumper. The bid price is $57054.80 for the truck and $12,756.20 for extra equipment for a total of $70,711.00. The Fire Council and Equipment Committee met August 5, 1974 and reviewed the bid in detail. Their recommendation and mine to the Board is as follows: A. The two ten feet of cord flex hard auction hose be deleted. The cost of which is $565.00. The reason is • two ten foot sections of hard suction hose are includdd in the cost of the truck at no extra charge. B. The Village purchase the IOCO feet of 3 inch hose and the 400 feet of 12 inch hose under the State Contract which would save the Village $300.00 to $400.00. E • Report for JUy, 1974 Page 2 Therefore, we respectfully request the Village Board tppappnove the Halpin Fire Equipment Co. bid for $67,a66.00. Also, we request that $2.y8q2zM be appropriated to purchase Net; York State Cpatract hose. \ a6,2o If this is approved by the Village Board, and when the pur- chase order is sent to Halpin, advise them we are deducting from the original bid as f,)Ilaws: $565.00 for cord flex hose but the haxd sucti -sn '.tise ti be included; $2,600.00 for 1000 feet of 31nch huge; $489.00 for 400 feet of lj inch hsse. This is a total of $32645.00 to be deducted. Next year the Village will have to replace the twenty year old pumper. By purchasing this pumper now, we will be saving around $17,000.00. This is because of the price increases that will take place within the next year. L2well T. George Fire Chief
