SUBJI"'T: Report of the Police Chief for May 1974
The Police Department handled 110 complaints and investigated 4 motor
vehicle accidents. There were 125 traffic tickets and 43 parking tickets
issued during the month.
This was the busiest month in the history of the Police Department insofar
as complaints handled were concerned. There were 2 Felony complaints, 45
Misdemeamor complaints, 20 Village Ordinance complaints, 3 Vehicle & Traffic
Law comp!Fints and 30 miscellaneous complaints.
On May 5, 1974, Dark N. Vann of Trumansburg commenced his duties as a Patrolman.
It is planned to send Patrolman Vann to the basic police school this fall.
The Public Safety Committee was consulted and approved the issuance of advance
payment for meals for Patrolman David Wall while attending a U.S. Drug Enforce-
ment Administration Law Enforcement Training School at the New York State
Police Academy in Albany from June 10th thru June 21st. I therefore request
confirmation by the Village Board in the form of the following resolution:
VOTED, to confirm approval for the issuance of check #4470 dated June 7,
• 1974 in the amount of $42.41 to Service Systems Corporation to pay for
the meals of Patrolman David J. Wall while attending a Drug Enforcement
School at the New York State Police Academy. The check was issued
upon the advice of the Public Safety Committee with the consent of
the Mayor.
The Chief of Police has met recently with the committee which is planning
the 3rd Annual Drum Corps International Championship to be held at Cornell
University on August 15, 16 and 17, 1974. The committee had indicated a
dc.:ire to use the Cornell playing fields on Triphammer Road for practice.
Following the discussions the committee agreed that they would not use this
area iname ach as it is close to the residential area of the Village. The
committee also agreed to reimburse the police agencies for additional personnel
required during this period, but requested that they be notified the amount
%,ov) :sired by the middle of June. It is therefore requested that the Village
