This machine also was very useful in preparing the roads which were scheduled for resurfacing. Motor paver has been in operation for the last two weeks, and the following roads have been repaved, in most cases to repair the road where sewer line was done this early spring season: Comstock Road, Berkshire Road, Highgate Road, Cayuga Park Road near the city line, and a 12 -foot strip of paving on Overlook Road. Preparations are now being made to pave Spruce Lane. Through arrangements with the City of Ithaca, the city's men and equipment were used to complete the double yellow traffic lanes on the Village roads where required. There is still some white traffic control striping yet to be painted. At the request of Mr. Kiersch, the Engineer inspected the road ditching at the corner of Warwick Place and Randolph Road. There is a complication here • in that the original plan for Randolph Road was for it to extend north past the north boundary of Mr. Kiersch's property rather than a curve into Warwick Place. The ownership of the land which used to be the right of way for the extension of Randolph Road is to be determined and also the grade elevations to see which way the water should flow in the ditches. flowing of the street right of ways has been accomplished with the Village mower. After June 15th, all empty lots not mowed by Village residents will be moored by the Village and charged to the residents. STREET LIGIUS Mr. Mesmer, of the NYS Electric and Gas Corp., has notified me that there is a rate increase for potter and for maintenance of street lights which will in- crease the cost of our present street light bill considerably. This will reduce the difference in cost between our present light system and the pro- posed new lamps noir under consideration. Now that the leaves are fully out on the trees, the street light committee will examine the street lights through- out the Village and report back to the Board as to their recommendations. SE[ ?ER LINES We heve been noti.fierl that Mrs. Hulse on The Parkway has brought suit against the Village for the cost of repairs to her sewer lines that she claims were not necessary. This is being handled by our insurance carrier. Information he has requested of the Engineer end the Village Clerk has been forwarded to him. This included letters to Mrs. Hulse from Mr. Crow, our sewer maps indi- cating that the line in question is a private not a Village -awned sewer line, and references to Village setter ordinances. VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS Page 2 REPORT OF THE ENGINEER June 1974 WATER LINES It is the recommendation of the Village Engineer that a consulting engineer be hired to run a hydraulic survey on the Village water line system as it will exist after the change when the Village will be connected to the Bolton Point water system. This hydraulic survey is needed to ensure that adequate water pressure for fire fighting will be available throughout the Village when we are fully transferred over from the city system to the Bolton Point system. NORTH TRIPMMMER TRAFFIC The recommendation of the Engineer that this problem of traffic on North Triphammer be kept in front of the County representatives for action. U 0
