POLICE DEPARTMENT
VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
TO: Hon. Frederick G. Marcham, Mayor
Members of the Board of Trustees
Village of Cayuga Heights
SUBJECT: Activities of the Police Department for November 1973
The Police Department handled 53 complaints and investigated 1 motor
vehicle accident. There were 28 traffic tickets and 65 parking tickets
issued during the month.
There were 2 felonies reported, one a burglary and one criminal sale of
drugs. There were also 8 misdemeanor complaints.
The newly appointed public safety committee met on November 27th and December
11th with the Police Chief. These meetings were very helpful in resolving
some of the current problems concerning personnel, in particular the
impending resignation of a full -time patrolman. A brief report of these
meetings will be made at the monthly board meeting on December 17th.
e The Gulf Oil Company which supplies the Village with gasoline on state
contract has advised us that they must restrict our monthly purchases to
112 of our last contract year's purchases or similar month's purchases.
They have warned us there may be a pro rata reduction in gasoline allocations
to all accounts at any time. Under the contract we hold no priority
position should this happen. I have taken steps to conserve gasoline
wherever possible. There also appears to be some local pressure to
farther conserve energy by eliminating some street lights. I would
be opposed to this and suggest that if the Village Board should consider
such action, that the public safety committee discuss the matter further
with me prior to making any decision.
The part -time officers worked a total of 94 hours during the month and
the full -time officers worked 23 hours overtime.
