REPORT OF FIRE CHIEF
8/20/73
The Department responded to 12 alarms during the month of July. Fire
loss in the district well exceeded $1,100.00. There was one personal
injury to a resident, severe burns to the chest, face and arms resulting
from a gasoline fire.
The new telephone system will soon be a reality in the County, with all
but four departments using the 273 -8000 number to report fires. Instsll-
ation will start in August and by sometime in September the system will
be operational.
Members of the Fire Council have expressed concern that the drainage
and paving work at the fire station will not be completed before cold
weather sets in. Perhaps a reminder to the work force by the Board
would be in order.
There has been no news since the last report on delivery dates for
the ladder truck. Ford's delay in delivering the chassis is still the
problem.
Burr Ripley has made some repairs to the roof on the old section of the
fire station. At the same time he made a survey of the roof and estim-
ates at least six or seven more years before a new roof will be needed.
