Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights SUBJECT: Activities of the Police Department, March & April 1973 March April Complaints Handled ............................. 62 64 Motor Vehicle Accidents ........................ 3 8 Traffic Tickets Issued ......................... 66 38 Parking Tickets Issued ......................... 26 25 During the week of March 19, 1973, Sergeant Darling and Patrolman Cooper attended a photography school sponsored by the Ithaca Police Department and instructed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Chief McEwen attended a similar school in 1969. We are in the process of remodeling our basement storeroom for a darkroom facility and the Police Benevolent Association has made a contribution toward the expense of such a facility. Patrolman Cooper will build cupboards and install ceiling tile and wallboard in the room. We would • appreciate your consideration in appropriating $100 from the Village Hall Maintenance Budget for 1973 -74 to assist with the expense of this project. On April 3, 1973, two school crossing signs were erected by the DPW on The Parkway. This should give warning to motorists that a school crossing of major importance exists at the intersection of Northway Road and The Parkway. We have received a civil service eligible list for Pattolmen from the Tompkins County Personnel Office. I would like to recommend the appointment of Daniel J. Sheehan to a permanent part -time position of Patrolman. He has been working on a seasonal and temporary basis for the Department since June 1, 1972. I would also like approval to hire G. Thomas Hagin as a seasonal past -time Patrolman effective June 1, 1973. A traffic count was made during April of the traffic on North Triphammer Road and the adjoining streets and the results of these counts will be given to you at the Board Meeting. A copy of these counts has been forwarded to the Tompkins County Planning Department. Respectfully /submitted, McEwen Chief of Police HRM:bp
