REPORT OF TILE ENGINEER
March 1973
• TREE REMOVAL
While deep frost was in the ground the first part of the month the work crew
proceeded to remove additional elm trees that were on the Village road right of
way in anticipation of our coming spring removal program.
SEWER LINES
As soon as the frost was sufficiently out of the ground work continued on the
replacement of sewer lines. A major 10" line with indications of many leaks on
Cayuga Park Road is in process of being replaced at present. This is a deep line
which complicates its replacement and increases cost.
Bids have been received for replacement of front end loader and backhoe to
help with the sewer line replacement. The bids are as follows:
S. C. HANSEN INC., 180 Ithaca Road, Horseheads, N.Y. 14845
1973 Case 680C as per bid $26,025.00
Less trade in 580 Case 13 640.00

ARSENAULT'S TRACTOR SALES & SI'u,VECE, R.D. 1, Brooktondale, N.Y. 14817
1973 John Deere 5000 as per bid $21,244.00
Less trade in 580 Case 10,251-36
Net bid price (30 day delivery) 103
• KOEHRING CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT, 127 Ball Circle, Syracuse, N.Y. 13210
1973 Koehring Co. - Parsons Div. Model 166- 15 -15' $21,063.00
Less trade in 580 Case 4,563-00
Net bid price (30 day delivery) $169500-00
It is the recommendation of the Engineer and of the Public Works Foreman that the
bid of Arsenault for a John Deere front end loader and backhoe be accepted even
though there is a slight variance in the bid specifications of a 1 cubic yard
loading bucket rather than a I- cubic yard. The bid from S. C. Hansen also had
a minor variation in the specifications in that the tire sizes of the machine they
proposed were smaller than those in the specification.
SEWER PLANT
The old sewer plant is operating well, gas production and digestion of sludge
is in good operation. The Engineer is scheduled to meet with representatives of
the Syracuse Office of The Environmental Protection Agency to discuss any additional
recommendations they might have on the,old plant sewer operation.
Contractor, Stewart and Bennett, have moved in on the job, Mr. Rood, a resident
engineer of Teetor- Dobbins, is also on the job, final excavation work is in process
at the present time.

• The Village Brockway truck with the Heil packer body has been repaired and put
back in operation as a spare for our new packer. When the new packer went back for
its first check up the Brockway was used for collection of trash and worked out well.
