Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights SUBJECT: Activities of the Police Department for February 1973 The Police Department handled 39 complaints and investigated 5 motor vehicle accidents. There were 67 traffic tickets and 35 parking tickets issued during the month. There was one felony investigat9.on during the month, which involved a burglary at the Cayuga Heights Elementary School. There were thirteen misdemeanor complaints of which eight were for criminal mischief. The criminal mischief or vandalism problem seems to be on the increase. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting a photography school in conjunction with the Ithaca Police Department the week of March 19th. Sergeant Darling and Patrolman Cooper will • be attending this school and we hope to develop our own dark room facilities in the basement of the Village Hall in the future. The radar which was authorized for a trial period has been very satisfactory and I would like to request authorization for the Village Clerk to advertise for bids so that purchase may be approved at the April 2, 1973 meeting. On February 21, 1973, Mayor Marcham sent a letter to Mr. Irving Lewis, 300 East Upland Road, requesting he trim trees and bushes which obstructed the view to the north at the corner of East Upland and Triphammer Road. Mr. Lewis has been out of town and when he returned, he immediately called me concerning the matter. Upon recommendation of Village Engineer Rogers and myself, he has trimmed the shrubbery satisfactorily at this location. The part -time officers worked 98 hours and the full -time officers worked 5 hours overtime during February. R jlly submitted, 'Jo. , Harlin R. McEwen Chief of Police • HRM:bp
