HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Village Justice 2/15/1973REPORT OF THE VILLAGE
JUSTICE TO THE MAYOR
AND TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
1972
Motor vehicle matters continued to be the largest item
on the docket in the Village Court. The'number of cases has
increased after the slight decline in 1971.
Criminal cases increased over last year. Bad checks and
drugs accounted for many of them with shoplifting close behind.
The Cayuga Heights Police Department continues to be first
class. The other police agencies, County Sheriff's force,
State Police and the Cornell Safety Division, cooperated in
bringing their respective cases before the court.
Where there were serious misdemeanors and in some other
cases where it seemed appropriate, the'assistance of the
Tompkins County Probation Department was obtained and their
recommendations were always valuable.
The Honorable Harry G. Henn, Acting Village Justice, has
continued to serve ably when the Village Justice has been un-
available. Thanks are also due to Mr. Seale Tuttle, then a
law student, now Assistant District Attorney, and Ms. Donna
Zenor, also a law student, who served as court clerk.
A total of 167 hours was spent by the Village Justice
on the Court. The Village Justice continued to serve as
Secretary- Treasurer of the Tompkins County Magistrates' Association.
February 15, 1972
Respectfully submitted,•,•
