ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ZONING OFFICER
FEBRUARY 1973
JOHN B. ROGERS
During the past twelve months the Zoning Officer has received an
increasing number of requests for information concerning new and different
aspects of the Village Zoning Ordinance. Requests on opinions of the
Zoning Ordinance as it applies to the division of lots, cluster housing,
fencing in relation to property lines, construction of platform tennis
courts and the requirements to permit a doctor's office in the residential
area are examples of the type of information that is sought by residents
and land owners.
The Zoning Laws, by and large, are well written and through them,
the efforts of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Board of Trustees,
the Village enjoys orderly controlled growth that maintains its unique
residential character.
After much consideration for the desires of the residents and the
need of the merchants in the Commercial area for signs, the Village Board
of Trustees passed a new Sign Ordinance that became effective January 15,
1973. Non - conforming signs which were in existence prior to the effective
date of the Ordinance will have a period of three years in which to remove
• the sign or alter it to make it comply with the new sign regulation.
During the past twelve months there were fourteen zoning permits
issued. Ten of these permits were for alterations and additions which
amounted to an estimated cost of $75,500. Four of these permits were
for construction of new houses at an estimated cost of $150,500.
