HomeMy WebLinkAboutFire Department's Report for Nov 1972E • CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 1972 The department responded to 7 alarms of fire and 5 incidents during the month. Four of the alarms were accidental caused by telephone repairmen, radio repairmen, alarm repairmen and in the fourth instance a farm tractor being operated directly under an ionization detector in the Farm Shop at BOCES. The other alarms were: a smoke scare at 220 Triphammer Road (burned out light ballast), vehicle at 128 Salem Drive, smoke in Pleasant Grove Apartments Laundry (burned out washer motor). The end result was no reportable fire loss for the month. The incidents were all routine such as flooding, motor vehicle accidents, and furnace problems. Fire inspections made during the month were: Cayuga Heights School BOCES (5 buildings) DeWitt Jr. High Northeast School 220 Triphammer Rd. 207 Kelvin Place - conditions good, much improved since 1971. - still storage problems (lack of space). - conditions good. - conditions excellent. - inspect incinerator and stack. - final - now in compliance with NYSMRL. The department was experiencing a severe problem of what appeared to be harrassment calls on the emergency phone. This problem has been relieved through the efforts of Police Chief McEwen and the excellent cooperation received from The New York Telephone Company.
