HomeMy WebLinkAboutFire Department's Report for Oct 1972• CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR OCTOPM, 1972 The department responded to three alarms during the month. Two of the alarms were accidental alarms and the other resulted in a small loss of $267 as a result of a chimney fire on Christopher Circle. The department also responded to six incidents during the month, these included a trapped animal, power failure, flames, investigation of a fire at Northeast School, and a mutual aid request for Car I to assist in a search for a lost child on Connecticut Hill. Car I was requested by the County Fire Coordinator because it was the only 4-wheel drive vehicle in the county with radio, public address system and emergency equipment. Fire inspection activity included reinspections of parts of the Corners Complex, and working with owners to correct hazards at 207 Kelvin Place and 306 Highland Road. Fire prevention activity included two first grades from Cayuga Heights School touring the fire station and a short lecture and tour given to a group of Girl Scouts. Several of the firemen attended the three schools sponsored by the New York State Division of Fire Safety. These included a 36 hour course in Essentials of Firemanship, Pump Operation, and Arson Detection. • The usual Halloween standby was held with about 10 volunteers manning the fire station that eve, the only activity being the investigation of the fire at Northeast School. Assistant Chiefs Lewis and Collins made a trip to the Pierce Manufacturing Co. in Appleton, Wisconsin to gather first hand information on a small ladder truck and aerial unit they manufacutre. The Pierce Co. underwrote the expenses of the trip. Ned G. Boice Fire Chief 0
