CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT
REPORT FOR JULY 1972
The department responded to 4 alarms of fire and 7 incidents during
July. Fire loss was estimated at less than $50.
The Fire Council committee assigned to investigate the various
available types of apparatus which will fill our requirements for
a ladder unit is still talking with various manufacturers and has
not yet made a final recommendation to the Fire Council.
The air conditioner in the resident driver's apartment failed during
the heat wave last month. The fire council decided to repair rather
than replace this unit. Repairs will be in the neighborhood of $150
and after consultation with Mayor Marcham the fire chief authorized
this repair. Board confirmation of this is requested. The equipment
maintenance budget has sufficient funds to cover this expense.
The hydrant clearing program is progressing with the residents who
are so inclined doing the work themselves and the Village work force
is scheduled to finish the job by the end of August, for those
residents who prefer to have the work done in this manner. To date
is there have been only minor objections to the program and in most
cases after the need was explained residents were most happy to
either clear the brush themselves or to allow the Village work force
to do it.
