HomeMy WebLinkAboutFire Department Report for May 1972• 0 CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR MAY 1972 The department responded to seven alarms of fire and seven requests for assistance during the month. Fire loss was less than $50 since all but one alarm was for brush and grass fires. Inspections made were: 5/3/72 Acacia Fraternity Final inspection of alterations Sam Lewis has moved into the bunkroom and requests that an extension of the fire department business phone be installed in the bunkroom. This phone can than be answered on an almost 24 hour a day basis and can also serve as a phone for the bunkroom. Sam is willing to pay the installation charges of $40.00 in return for the priviledge of making personal local calls on the phone. The monthly charges will be $2.46 or $29.52 annually. The Fire Chief requests and recommends approval of this. Sam understands that no long distance calls can be made and feels that he can give night coverage of the phone which is not now possible since all the existing extensions are either in the company room or office and cannot be heard in the bunkroom at night. The previous bunkers did not want to be bothered with calls on this phone and refused to have one installed at the time of our service changeover last summer. Charges to connect the existing alarm and detection system in the Village Hall to the alarm system at the Fire Station are: Irionthly charges for leased line Installation of leased line Installation of relay and switch $ 4.96 or $59.52 annually 50.00 75.00 (by Norton Electric) The Fire Chief recommends that this be done as soon as possible to provide the best possible protection for the Village Hall. The Fire Council requests that the Board approve purchase by the Fire Department from the Village Office the used electric typewriter for the trade in price of. $115.00. Funds to come from the equipment fund. The Fire Council requests approval to purchase the following items out of the $3500 budgeted for equipment for this year.
