Report for April 1972
The department responded to four alarms of fire and made two assists
during the month. Fire loss was less than $200 due to the fact that one
fire was a woods fire and one a mutual aid call to Lansing. Mutual aid
was received once by our department from Varna for the woods fire at
Sapsucker Woods.
One inspection was made during the month of the storage and garbage
sheds inthe rear of the Community Corners complex.
Fire prevention activity was a tour of the fire station by 20 Girl
Scouts of Troop # 831.
The BOCES buildings are now connected to the Fire Alarm system and
there is at present one space not spoken for on the panel. If the Board
wishes, this space can be reserved for connection of the Village Hall,
if not, it will be assigned to the next interested party. At present
there are several organizations considering installation of private
alarm and detection systems with a connection to our alarm system.
Permission is requested to authorize repairs to Engine 2 in the
amount of $188. These repairs will restore rusted body panels and
compartments and will be done by the Auto Body Works Shop. Work done
in the past by this shop has been more satisfactory than work by other
shops. Funds to come from the equipment maintenance appropriation for
1972 -73.
