POLICE DEPARTMENT
VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
To: Hon. Frederick G. Marcham, Mayor
Members of the Board of Trustees
Village of Cayuga Heights
Subject: Activities of the Police Department for April 1972
The Police Department handled 69 complaints and investigated 6
motor vehicle accidents. There were 69 traffic tickets and 23
parking tickets issued during the month.
There were 5 felonies investigated. Three of these involved
burglaries, one of which was an unfounded report. There was
one felony of reckless endangerment and one felony of arson.
There were 6 bad check cases and one subject was arrested for
this offense. As a result of this arrest, several hundred
dollars in restitution was paid to merchants throughout the
county.
The officers licensed bicycles at the Cayuga Heights School on
Saturday, April 29th. There will be a similar licensing program
conducted at the Northeast Elementary School in cooperation with
the Sheriff's Department on May 27th. Bicycle thefts have
increased considerably during the past month and most of the
bicycles stolen were not licensed.
The part -time officers worked 74 hours and the full -time officers
worked a total of 35 hours overtime during April.
I wish to thank the Mayor and the Board of Trustees for my appointment
as probationary police chief. I will endeavor to justify your
confidence in me and continue the high standard of police service
you have grown accustomed to.
