ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ZONING OFFICER

During the past twelve months three zoning permits were issued for the
construction of new homes at a total estimated cost of $92,000. There
were also eleven zoning permits issued for additions or alterations to
existing structures amounting to an estimated cost of $22,900. Inspections
were made and Occupancy Permits were issued to Patten Jewelers on Pleasant
Grove Road and the Sarkus - Kimball Apartment House on Wyckoff Road.
The Zoning Board of Appeals heard two requests for variances during the year.
The request of Mr. Edwin Thompson of Patten Jewelers to permit an over-
hanging roof into the side yard setback distance was approved by the Board.
A request from the Carriage House Apartments on Pleasant Grove Road for an
encroachment on the side yard setback was denied. Mr. Richard Curran
resigned as chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals after serving the
Village faithfully as a member and chairman of this Board for many years.
He was replaced by the appointment of Mr. D. Wayne Fleming as chairman
and Mr. Carl Norberg was appointed to fill the vacancy on the Zoning Board.
