Fire loss was limited to an estimated $65.00. At present the bunkroom is not occupied. Some of the volunteers are sleeping in on the nights the resident driver wishes to be absent and the Fire Council is actively seeking new bunkers. The contractor is making sure but slow progress towards completion but is being delayed by delivery of items, some of which were ordered in February. It is recommended that final payment be withheld until final completion. The Fire Company has entered into a contract with McCarthy Builders for painting of the Fire Station in the amount of $2,320. The work is progressing well and the exterior will be completed soon. If the needed gauges are received soon the department will start a survey of fire hydrants in the Village this Fall before freezing weather. (This is a service which we are paying the City of Ithaca $75 per hydrant per year for but have been unable to convince the City Water Department to perform.] The radio console has been completed by firemen Moravec, Lewis and McEwen and is now operational. This was done at a cost of about $300 and the • equipment has a value of at least $1,000 as completed by these men. The School Fire Alarm System is not as yet operational since all of the components have not been received. A recent call to the manufacturer gave assurance that all would be shipped before the end of September. Request permission to purchase 1000 Government stamped printed envelopes for $92.40. Ned G.
