REPORT OF THE ENGINEER
S DECEMBER 1971
F am" ;G74it7s3aLy
The one short period of snow and ice we have had so far was well handled
by the crew. All pieces of snow removal equipment are in operating
condition, ready to go. A new snow plow blade was purchased and installed
on the Village 4 -wheel drive power wagon. This piece of equipment will
primarily be used for snow removal at the Sewage Disposal Plant.
II. LEAF REMOVAL
All leaves that were in piles by the roadsides were collected and the
job was considered complete. The last unseasonably warm weather over
the weekend of December 11th brought out many resident leaf rakers and
our job of leaf collection continues.
III. NEW SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
The contractor for phase I of the new plant additions and alterations is
making good progress in his grading work. All tree and brush removal work
has been completed. Stock piling of top soil has been completed. Grading
and removal of excess overburden is started. A good view of the entire
job can be had by stopping on Route 13 above the Sewage Disposal Plant
area.
IV. SEWAGE TREATMENT SERVICE
Formal requests and plans from Lansing Sewer District #2 have been received
for the installation of sewer lines for the first phase of Lansing North
Apartment complex which will eventually house 750 units. Sewer lines will
be laid during the winter but no connection will be made to the existing
Lansing lines that tie into the Village sewer system until next summer.
Our inspector as well as Lansing inspector will keep a close watch on the
construction of these lines.
V. Samples of possible exteriors for the new sewer plant buildings are in
the Village office for Trustee's inspection. These have been suggested
by our Consulting Engineers, Teetor - Dobbins.
