August 1971
Several fire inspections were made during the month.
5 Highland Park Lane - Construction of a dark room
509 Wyckoff Road - Alterations to construct apartments
DeWitt School - New construction
BOCES - New partitions to subdivide open classroom concept
This represents about 20 hours of work for the inspector.
Messrs. Kimball and Sarkus seem quite willing at this point to
do the things suggested by the inspector to make their apartment
house fire safe as possible. However, the existing construction,
age and projected use of the building in conjunction with no
existing local fire or building codes make it extremely difficult
if not impossible to prevent the projected alterations from
• changing an existing firetrap to a remodeled firetrap. The fire
inspector plans to make frequent inspections during the construction
stages to insure that the items mutually agreed upon are incorporated
in remodeling.
