Vorhis, Fire Chief SUBJECT: Annual Report of the Fire Department in compliance with the laws governing the Fire Department, I have the honor to submit the Annual Report of the operations of the Fire Department of Cayuga Heights for the year ending December 31, 1969- The Department answered a total of 53 alarms for the year, a decrease of 13 alarms for 1968. The calls were 27 for the Village and 26 for the Fire Protection Districts which includes three mutual aid calls and one for a false alarm. The fire losses were: Village - $5,000 Fire Protection Districts - $63000 The major fires were: Village - 108 Midway Road Fire Protection Districts - Dean's Upholstery, 31 Sapsuckerwoods Road • The number of calls were: Fire Protection Village District Residential 7 6 Misc. - assist police, false alarms, etc. 12 6 Mercantile 3 2 Grass Fires 3 4 Car fires and accidents 2 8 Total 59 27 2C- The number of equipment responses were: Car 1 - 49 Engine 1 - 22 Engine 2 - 37 In June 1969 a new 3/4 ton pickup truck chassis was delivered to replace the emergency car. A utility box was attached to make carrying equipment easier and more accessible for use. This has proven to be very worthwhile to the department. Present membership of the Company totals 59 active members and 300 associate members. Ten members resigned or were dropped because they moved away from the Village or Fire District. It is my sincere hope that this coming year will be a safe one for the residents of the Village and the Fire Protection Districts. I thank you on behalf of the Department for your continued support and under- standing of our needs and although I will not be the Chief for the coming year, I know the department will make every effort to provide the best fire protection available.
